Biography
Igor Uchevatov was born in 1979 in Krasnoyarsk, Russia.
From a young age, he was drawn to both the natural sciences and the arts.
Biology, geology, and drawing classes played an important role in shaping his future interests.
Early hands-on experience with minerals in a geology club and work in a gem polishing studio provided a foundation that would later influence his development as a jeweler.
He studied at the Surikov Art School, and in 1996 enrolled in the Krasnoyarsk State Technical University, majoring in Artistic Metalworking — a program combining technical training with classical art education.
In 2000, alongside his studies, he began working as an apprentice at the only jewelry workshop in the city at the time, gaining his first professional experience. After graduating in 2001, he continued working as a jeweler and also joined the university faculty as an assistant.
In 2002, Igor launched his first small studio focused on stone cutting and custom jewelry. Over the following years, he also taught courses in jewelry craftsmanship and collaborated with local factories.
Between 2006 and 2007, seeking to grow further as an artist, he left his hometown to work with experienced masters across Russia — including in Kemerovo, Moscow, and St. Petersburg.
In 2008, he returned to Krasnoyarsk to open a new studio specializing in goldsmithing and fine gemstone work. He also helped organize the city's first jewelry craftsmanship competition in 2009, serving as a jury member.
In 2011, Igor moved to Moscow, where he worked first at a large jewelry production company and then joined the Russian branch of Richemont Group, servicing prestigious brands such as Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Montblanc, and Piaget.
While the technical experience at Richemont was invaluable, the desire for personal artistic expression led him to take a new direction — fully dedicating himself to creative, author-driven jewelry design.
